GPA Calculator
Calculate your unweighted or weighted GPA, cumulative across semesters, plus a GPA planning calculator.
- Weights each course by its credit hours, the way a real transcript GPA is computed.
- Optional weighted mode adds the standard +0.5 (Honors) / +1.0 (AP/IB) bonus per course — matches how most US high schools actually report GPA on a transcript.
- Combine a prior cumulative GPA and credit total with this term's courses for one true cumulative GPA — no need to re-enter every past course.
- Planning mode reverse-solves the average GPA you'd need over your remaining credits to reach a target cumulative GPA.
- Recalculates instantly as you add or edit courses.
- Runs in your browser — your grades aren't uploaded.
Why this is private
- Calculated locally in your browser.
- Open your browser's DevTools → Network tab while using this tool — you won't see a request carrying your input, because it never leaves your device.
- Nothing you enter is uploaded to a server or shared with us — the processing happens entirely on your device.
Overview
Calculates your GPA (Grade Point Average) from a list of courses, their credit hours and letter grades — on the standard unweighted 4.0 scale, or a weighted scale with Honors/AP/IB bonus points that lets your GPA exceed 4.0. Optionally combine with a prior cumulative GPA across earlier semesters, and use the planning mode to see what GPA you'd need going forward to hit a target.
How to use it
- 1Turn on weighted mode if your school weights Honors/AP/IB courses.
- 2Add each course with its credit hours, letter grade, and course level if weighted.
- 3Turn on "Include prior semesters" and enter your prior GPA and credit total for a true cumulative figure.
- 4Turn on GPA planning, enter a target GPA and how many more credits you'll take, to see the average you'd need over them.
Formula
GPA
GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) / Σ(credits)
Tips
- Some institutions use a different weighted-bonus scale or a different point scale entirely — check your institution's specific scale if this doesn't match your transcript.
