Host it at your site root, add a `Sitemap:` line to robots.txt, and submit the URL in Google Search Console.

How is priority calculated?

Automatically, by URL path depth: the homepage (`/`) gets 1.0, and priority drops by 0.2 for each further path segment (`/about` → 0.8, `/blog/post` → 0.6), floored at 0.1 — the same convention crawl-based sitemap generators use when inferring priority from site structure.

Do `changefreq` and `priority` matter?

Google has said it largely ignores both for ranking or crawl-prioritization purposes — accurate `lastmod` dates are the more useful signal. They're still included because they're part of the standard sitemap protocol and some other crawlers and tools do read them.
