What merging does (and doesn't do)

Each source PDF's pages are copied into a new document as-is. Nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed, so:

Quality is unchanged — selectable text stays selectable, images keep their resolution.
Size adds up — a 2 MB and a 3 MB PDF make a ~5 MB file. Merging is not a way to save space; if the result is too big, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.
Whole files only — it doesn't pick pages. Use Split PDF or Extract PDF Pages first if you need a subset.

Mixing in images

Merge PDF takes PDFs, not images. If you have JPGs or PNGs to include, convert them with Image to PDF first, then add that PDF to the merge.

Troubleshooting

"Couldn't merge these files." One input is encrypted or password-protected, or isn't a valid PDF. Remove the protection first (you'll need the password), then merge.
Wrong page order. The file order in the list is the page order in the output — re-drag and merge again.
Combined file rejected for size. Compress it with Compress PDF, or split off anything that doesn't need to be included.
