Overview
The EMI (Equated Monthly Installment) calculator works out the fixed monthly payment for a loan, given its principal, interest rate and tenure — plus how much of that payment is interest versus principal over time.
How to use it
- 1Enter the loan amount (principal).
- 2Enter the annual interest rate.
- 3Enter the loan tenure in years or months.
- 4The EMI, total interest and total payment are calculated instantly, along with a year-by-year breakdown.
Formula
EMI
EMI = P × r × (1 + r)^n / ((1 + r)^n − 1)
P = principal, r = monthly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100), n = number of monthly installments.
Examples
₹10,00,000 at 8.5% for 20 years
Monthly EMI ≈ ₹8,678; total interest ≈ ₹10,82,758 over the loan term.
Tips
- This calculator provides an estimate for planning purposes only and is not financial advice.
- A longer tenure lowers your EMI but increases total interest paid — compare tenures side by side before deciding.
