Overview

Calculates the maturity value of a Public Provident Fund (PPF) account — a fixed yearly contribution, compounded annually over the account's tenure (a 15-year lock-in by default, extendable in 5-year blocks).

How to use it

  1. 1Enter the yearly investment, current PPF interest rate and tenure.
  2. 2View the maturity value and total interest earned.

Formula

PPF maturity value

A = P × [((1 + r)^n − 1) / r] × (1 + r)

P is the yearly contribution, r the annual rate as a decimal, n the number of years — the standard annuity-due formula used because PPF interest compounds annually on a contribution made at the start of the year.

Tips

  • This calculator provides an estimate for planning purposes only and is not financial advice.
  • PPF has a legal maximum contribution of ₹1.5 lakh per financial year and a minimum lock-in of 15 years — this calculator assumes a consistent yearly contribution for the full tenure entered, not partial-year or irregular deposits.
