Overview
Calculates the maturity value of a Recurring Deposit (RD) — a fixed monthly deposit, compounded quarterly, the standard convention Indian banks use for RDs.
How to use it
- 1Enter the monthly deposit amount, annual interest rate and tenure in months.
- 2View the maturity value and total interest earned.
Formula
RD maturity value
M = R × [(1 + i)^n − 1] / [1 − (1 + i)^(−1/3)]
R is the monthly deposit, i the quarterly rate (annual rate ÷ 4), n the number of quarters — the standard formula banks publish for RDs, since deposits are monthly but interest compounds quarterly.
Tips
- This calculator provides an estimate for planning purposes only and is not financial advice.
- This assumes quarterly compounding, the common convention — some banks compound differently, so treat the result as a close estimate rather than an exact figure.
